Okayama Castle was built by the daimyo Ukita Hideyoshi, who created the unification of the world for Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The castle tower is said to have been completed in 1597. The castle tower suffered from Zhu Rong during the war, and was rebuilt in Showa 41 (1966). It was selected as one of the top 100 famous castles in Japan. The outer wall is covered with black partitions, hence the name Crow City, and Golden Crow City because of the use of gold leaf tiles. The castle tower reopened in November 2022. In addition to the display of physical cultural relics, you can also experience various exhibitions with the theme of the Warring States and Edo period, take group photos, and explain the construction process of the castle town. We also recommend shops that sell limited original souvenirs, and you can enjoy sweets made with local ingredients in the cafe.
